The Program

Our Health and Wellness Coach Training Program is approved by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaching exam.

This course is a health and wellness training program with an emphasis on chronic pain. You will learn motivational interviewing(MI) skills from chronic pain coaches that bring current real world experience to the classroom. Each class is kept small to facilitate group discussion and interaction. This is an online course designed to prepare students for the National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) exam.

Upon graduation, you will receive the Certification of Certified Health and Wellness Coach (CHWC) for successfully completing the requirements for TCCU, which includes training in chronic pain coaching and Motivational Interviewing.

TCC®U faculty includes experienced coaches, many who specialize in pain management and motivational interviewing. Education combines general coaching skills and best practices with specific attention to working with pain clients. To complete the course, trainees must pass a comprehensive exam and a practicum of recorded calls.

Program highlights:

  • The 17 week training includes:
    • 75 hours of coach training classes
    • Smaller class setting conducive to group discussions
    • Three recorded coaching call sessions with one-on-one mentoring follow up
    • Practicum with feedback built into most classes
  • This training is an approved pre-requisite for taking the NBC-HWC exam and/or for credentialing through ICF via portfolio.
  • TCC®U’s unique coaching model integrates a curriculum of research-based and proven pain management techniques.
  • TCC®U is an approved program with the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching.
  • No travel required—training is done via tele-classes.

The Goal

The goal of this program is to provide the trainee with coaching skills through education, practice and mentoring—a process that is challenging and fun. Coursework, reading, homework, mentoring, and practice prepare the student to be a well-educated health and wellness coach who understands chronic pain and utilizes best practices to help clients overcome barriers and thrive, despite pain.

The Course Content

  • Assignments and reading exams
  • Buddy coaching
  • Comprehensive multiple-choice final exam
  • Practical Skills Assessment includes submitting three recorded coaching practice sessions with mentoring follow up.  These will be graded on a pass/fail for graduation requirements based on the grading rubric from NBHWC.
  • Each trainee will receive:
    • Lesson materials via web-platform
    • Weekly emails from the education coordinator
    • Access to the education coordinator for any questions for the duration of the course
    • A required-reading list and homework assignments

The Requirements

  1. As an adult learner, each participant is responsible for completion of requirements by the of the course, if certification is desired. Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion, which is a necessary requirement to sit for the NBC-HWC exam.
  2. A dependable phone and Internet connection, plus moderate computer skills (an email address, internet or data plan with sufficient speed to view videos, basic typing skills, access to long-distance calling).
  3. Passing score of at least 80% on final multiple-choice comprehensive exam.
  4. Completion of required reading, reading exams and homework.
  5. Attending and logging a record of all classes.
  6. Submitting three and passing a minimum of one recorded practice coaching session, each a minimum of 20 minutes in duration.  Following each recorded practice coaching session, the student will receive a minimum of 20 minutes mentoring feedback to discuss what went well and where there may be room for improvement.

The Investment

The cost for the course is $3,450, plus textbooks (approximately $160). There are three payment plan options:

  1. $3,450.00 if paid in full, prior to program start date
  2. Four monthly payments of $900.00
  3. 11 month financing available ($500 down/$291.00 x11)

$100 Discount if payment is received in full 30 days prior to the class start date!

Occasionally, events arise that compel students to withdraw from training. After a $500 non refundable fee, a prorated refund schedule is available. *Graduation certificate released upon completion and full payment.
